BAFTA/LA hosts the 2006 ceremony honoring: Clint Eastwood : The Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film. Anthony Minghella : The John Schlesinger Britannia Award for Artistic Excellence in Directing Rachel Weisz : The Britannia Award for Artist of the Year. 2006 marks the 20th anniversary of the annual Garden Party and to celebrate the occasion, this year's party will be a held at the beautiful Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills As always, the evening will include a wonderful selection of foods, wines and our Martini Bar. A variety of exquisite items will be available in our Silent Auction, as well as our popular special opportunity drawing for two First-Class tickets to London on British Airways and a weekend's stay at Claridge's. Invitations have been mailed to all Members.

BAFTA/LA presents the second Trade Secrets evening. Duncan Clark will be our guest speaker, discussing International Marketing and Distribution issues, and how they relate to the US Domestic market. Duncan Clark served as President of Columbia TriStar International Distribution from 1996 through 2000 Mr. Clark played an instrumental role in Sony's successful entry into the international film production arena and as of January 2007, will begin a new position as Executive Vice President of International Distribution with Universal Pictures UK. Evening begins 6.00pm Presentation 7.00pm Followed by Q&A and networking session.

4th Annual Emmy Nominees Tea Party |
BAFTA/LA and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences celebrate the 2006 Emmy Nominees from the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. Tickets will be allocated to BAFTA/LA Members via a lottery system.

The inaugural event in BAFTA/LA's new 'Trade Secrets' programme. The guest speaker will be Todd P. Leavitt. Todd's presentation is entitled 'TV AS WE KNOW IT NO LONGER EXISTS', and will cover the extraordinary sea change presently at work that is drastically re-configuring the American (and Global) television landscape.
Evening begins at 6.00pm Presentation will begin at 6.30pm Followed by Q&A and Networking session.

Seminar : My First Time – The Experience of Directing |
The Education and Outreach Committee presents an evening with acclaimed writer/director Jason Reitman entitled My First Time – The Experience of Directing ‘Thank You For Smoking’. The purpose of the evening is to explore Jason Reitman’s insights into the filmmaking process and provide an in-depth look at methods of preparation for directing his first feature film. The BAFTA/LA Scholarship Reception and Auction |
BAFTA/LA hosts a party and auction to raise money for our annual Film School Scholarship.
