   Creating Photoreal Digital Characters: An Evening with the ICT Graphics Lab

The Learning and Events Committee invite you to a demonstration of the latest advancements in Visual Effects at the Graphics Laboratory at the University of Southern California's Institute for Creative Technologies.
 
This special event will present the Lab's latest project with an overview by ITC Director Paul Debevec in the new ICT high-definition theater, followed by technology demos including Facial Performance Capture and Full-Body Scanning. BAFTA Los Angeles Board Member James Knight will also discuss and demonstrate the process behind Avatar and other virtual productions.

   International 3D Society University: A Question of Size

BAFTA Los Angeles Members are invited to attend this full day event presented by the International 3D Society. This all-day event will cover topics such as Shooting 3D for the Big Screen and the Little Screen, 3D Television from the Broadcast Perspective, 3D Computers, and 3D Flatscreens.

   BAFTA Los Angeles Student Film Festival Screenings

Join BAFTA Los Angeles for a special evening celebrating the best Student Short Films from Southern California.
 
The Community Education and Outreach Committee Jury has voted and selected eight extraordinary short films from 38 submissions from 12 Southern California Film Schools.
 
Members are invited to attend a special evening featuring a screening of the eight finalists of the BAFTA Los Angeles Student Film Awards, and vote for the 2011 winner.
 
All BAFTA Voting Members in attendance will receive a ballot, the ballots will be counted, and the evening will conclude with the presentation of the awards to the winners.

BAFTA Los Angeles presents a special seminar and networking opportunity that will focus on new trends and developments in Social Media.
 
Presented by our New Media Committee, the seminar will include a panel of leading experts joining us to discuss what social media offers to us beyond the obvious marketing opportunities.
 
Our panelists come from the worlds of Production, Studio and Technology and hope to shed some light on this fascinating area of the business:

   Romeo & Juliet: Day One

As the culmination of BAFTA Los Angeles’ Shakespeare project with the performing arts students of Washington Preparatory High School, we are pleased to present the first of two unique open-air performances.
 
We invite our Members to join us for this Friends and Family debut performance of William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet.
