   Special Screening: Ken Annakin 100th Birthday Tribute

Ken Annakin was one of the most prolific and versatile filmmakers of the 20th Century, with an impressive list of more than 50 films as director running the gamut from big screen spectaculars, family favorites and light comedies, to inventive fantasies.
 
To commemorate the centennial of his birth, BAFTA Los Angeles and the American Cinematheque will present a special celebratory evening.
 
We will take a special look back at Ken's most renowned work, including a special in-person introduction from Leonard Maltin, and a screening of Battle of the Bulge.
 
Members are invited to join us at no charge.

BAFTA hosts a Masterclass with Alex McDowell, one of our industry's most respected and innovative Production Designers, who's work includes Fight Club, Watchmen, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Man of Steel, Corpse Bride, and The Crow.
 
With over 30 years experience working with directors as diverse as Terry Gilliam, Steven Spielberg, Tim Burton, Anthony Minghella and Zach Snyder, Alex will join us to reexamine the role of design and storytelling for the future.

   Behind Closed Doors with Stephen Merchant

BAFTA Los Angeles is hosts the next installment of our popular Behind Closed Doors series as we welcome BAFTA, Emmy and Golden Globe Award Winner Stephen Merchant for an evening of discussion.
 
Stephen Merchant is one of the most versatile talents in the comedy world. His long-time collaborations with Ricky Gervais have included hit TV Series The Office, Extras, An Idiot Abroad, and Life's Too Short. He most recently created, starred, wrote and directed HBO’s Hello Ladies, a sitcom based on his live stand-up show of the same name.
 
In 2010, he directed his first feature film alongside Gervais, the 1970s-set comedy Cemetery Junction. Merchant’s other film work includes Hall Pass, Tooth Fairy, Run Fatboy Run, I Give It A Year, and Hot Fuzz.
 
Behind Closed Doors is an ongoing series of conversations with the world’s most respected and influential talents.
