   Learning and Events: 3D University

The new Learning & Events Committee is pleased to announce that we have been invited to participate in a special educational program, presented by the International 3D Society.
 
Aimed at film professionals, this educational will focus on 3D theory and applications related to basic capture and stereography concepts; shooting events; and budgeting and workflow.

   24th Annual Garden Party

Tickets for the 24th Annual Garden Party are now on sale to Members on a first-come first-served basis.

The Garden Party will be held on June 26 and we are especially pleased to announce that this year, we will return to the Residence of the British Consul-General.

   The 2010 British Short Film Screenings

Not to be missed! BAFTA/LA is pleased to announce details of a new event for our Academy.
 
We cordially invite you attend a special evening sponsored by Chairman Nigel Lythgoe, celebrating the Short Film Winners and Nominees of the recent Orange British Academy Film Awards in 2010.

Don't miss this unique opportunity to view eight new British short films, presented together for the first time in the United States of America by BAFTA/LA.
 
This will be a wonderful opportunity to see this year’s Nominees and Winners, and support these films and filmmakers. We congratulate the filmmakers on their recognition at the Awards and look forward to joining our Members to view and celebrate these works.

   BritWeek: Film & TV Summit

As part of this year’s BritWeek, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts / Los Angeles is partnering with BritWeek to present the FILM & TV SUMMIT on April 23 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Members are invited to attend the event at a special reduced fee of $99 (regular price $125)

With a focus on maximizing success in the US and across the pond, the day-long Summit will feature insightful discussions on current topics and explore the challenges and opportunities from both creative and business perspectives in the two most globally successful filmmaking clusters in the world: Britain and Hollywood.

Each session will be led by a panel of US and UK entertainment industry leaders, and will invite Q&A and audience participation. Panelists will explore a range of topics, including opportunities in the UK for film and TV content creators, resources for UK filmmakers in the US, scripted and reality programming trends and the reasons British projects succeed or fail in the US and vice versa. The Summit will provide a welcoming environment in which to network and establish valuable new connections with likeminded filmmakers and business executives from the film, television and digital media worlds.

   Learning and Events: AN EVENING WITH RED

As part of our new Learning and Events Committee’s programming, we are pleased to invite you an informative demonstration and discussion that focuses on the RED digital camera system.
 

For many, the RED system has revolutionized the filmmaking process and influenced a new generation of filmmakers. Films shots on the RED include ‘Green Zone’, ‘The Informant’, ‘District 9’ and ‘Knowing’, and the system has already evolved considerably since its introduction in the summer of 2007.
 
This event will provide Members with the opportunity to learn about this camera system, see the latest demos and footage, and ask questions about the new EPIC and SCARLET systems.

   Membership Short Film Showcase

BAFTA/LA presents the 2010 Membership Short Film Showcase.
 
Short films have long provided filmmakers from all disciplines with the opportunity to experiment with new techniques, expand their repertoire, or work with subject matter that may be better suited to a short film format.
 
As part of our mission to promote and advance original and creative work, we are pleased to provide Members with this opportunity to present their short film projects to their peers.
 
Venue: Park La Brea Theater (475 S. Curson Ave)
