   Inner City Cinema: Antwone Fisher

BAFTA/LA’s Education and Outreach Program will bring Denzel Washington’s Antwone Fisher to George Washington Preparatory High School.
 
As well as a screening of the film, BAFTA/LA have arranged for Writer and Producer Antwone Fisher and actor Malcolm David Kelley (Lost) to join us for a post-screening discussion with the local students and community members.
 
We always welcome BAFTA/LA Members to join us at these events so they can see this important program in action.
 
BAFTA/LA’s Education and Outreach programs are funded in part by the proceeds raised at our Events and Silent Auctions. We thank our Members for their continued support.

   BAFTA/LA Salon: It's Not What You Know....

We are pleased to announce that the next session in our popular Salon series will focus on Industry Networking Techniques.
 
We all know that networking is key to a successful career in the entertainment industry but how do you turn contacts into powerful relationships that will get you to the next job or the next level in your career?
 
In this Salon, career coach and BAFTA/LA Member David Couper will join invited industry guests to present simple and effective networking tips and techniques, and how you can overcome your networking challenges and build on your strengths.

As part of our ongoing Education Program, BAFTA/LA is pleased to announce the next in our popular Behind Closed Doors series; an evening of career-spanning conversation with director, writer and producer Kathryn Bigelow.
 
Our Members, Scholars, Newcomers and Students are invited to join us for an insightful and educational evening with one of our most acclaimed colleagues, as she shares her insights into her entire catalogue of projects.

   Special Event: The Sound of Transformers Revenge of the Fallen

BAFTA/LA invites Members to a special event focusing on the art of Sound in Film, featuring the director and sound team from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
 
The presentation will include appearances by the film’s Director Michael Bay, Sound Re-Recording Mixers Greg P. Russell and Gary Summers, and Supervising Sound Editors Ethan Van Der Ryn and Erik Aadahl.
 
The event will include excerpts of select scenes from the film, and will be followed by a Reception. There is no charge for Members to attend this event.
 
An RSVP is essential and space is limited. Therefore as a courtesy to your fellow Members, please only make a reservation if you are certain you will be able to attend. The RSVP system closed on Monday, January 11 at 10.00am. If you need to cancel your reservation please do so by email to office@baftala.org

   Helen Keller Park: Family Holiday Party

As part of BAFTA/LA's Education and Outreach initiative, we are pleased to host our 4th annual holiday party for the Helen Keller Park community, home to our Inner City Cinema program.
 
This year's party is held in association with C.U.R.E. and A BETTER LA and will include a BBQ Lunch, Entertainment, Carnival Games, and Santa's Playland.

Toys collected at the BAFTA/LA Holiday Party on December 17, 09 will be distributed to inner-city youth as part of the day's festivities.

   Salon: Producing for the Web - An Introductory Primer

This primer introduces BAFTA/LA Members to the world of web productions, how they are made, financed, marketed and distributed. Members will be ntroduced to examples of successful web productions, and have an opportunity to interactively discuss what it's all about with key experts in the field.

   7th Annual TV Tea Party

BAFTA/LA is pleased to announce that the tradition of celebrating and honoring the Emmy® nominees and talent from the UK will continue with the 7th Annual TV Tea Party on Saturday, September 19, 2009.
 
The TV Tea will be held at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City from 3.00pm – 6.00pm, including a silent auction to raise funds and awareness of our expanding Outreach and Philanthropic programs including our Heritage Archive and Inner City Cinema programs.
 
The TV Tea will also celebrate nominees and talent from Canada, Australia and New Zealand on what will be the Saturday prior to the Primetime Emmy Awards. BBC America and British Airways are the Presenting Sponsors, and additional sponsors of the event include Jorian Hill Wines, Fox Television Studios, Reveille and WMe, as well as our annual BAFTA/LA sponsors Volvo, American Airlines and Bombardier.
 
Our invited guests will include nominees, past Emmy winners, BAFTA/LA Members, and industry executives.
